The first task tonight was finishing the corner boards all around the house. This was more slow ladder work and machining, but it got done. I had some time left to actually work on the “real” siding, which moves along pretty dramatically. This is one of those fun phases of the job where the appearance changes dramatically from one hour to the next. This siding is gonna look great. This little corner already looks quite nice.

When installing siding on an angle, you could measure each piece… or… just line up the angled edge of the previous piece and cut the next one to follow the angle. Presto! No measuring, just doing. And when courses get too long to be just one piece, no measuring there, either – dry fit the first piece, then dry fit the second piece and scribe the edge. Remove the second piece, cut along the line just drawn, then install the perfectly-sized piece. Nail it in. Much better than measuring each one. Also, my poor tape measure died tonight. Rest in peace, Fat Max 25. You have served me well for a decade and a half.
